Community Christmas Tree of Remembrance & Memorial Celebration Service

Dec. 10, 2015

We understand the importance of celebrating the memories of those who have passed away. During this holiday season, we are asking for your help in decorating the Community Christmas Tree of Remembrance. Please bring an ornament to represent your loved one and place it on our tree in Florence. If you do not have an ornament, we would be honored to provide one for you. We invite all in the community to attend our Memorial Celebration Service at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10 in our Florence Chapel, 1535 Hermitage Drive. After the service, we will call for those who placed ornaments on the tree to pick them up so that they may be placed on their tree at home for the remainder of the holiday season. For more info, please call (256) 764-0221.

DNA LifePrint: August 28, 2010

Elkins Funeral Home was the proud sponsor of a DNA LifePrint® Child Safety Event. From 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., more than 250 children with their parents, grandparents and family received their free FBI-certified biometric fingerprints, high-quality color digital photo, DNA identification kit, and comprehensive child safety journal. The Florence Police Department, SWAT Team, Florence Fire Rescue, and Girl Scouts Troop 234 joined Elkins Funeral Home in hosted the event.

Activities included a bicycle safety course, Fire Rescue Safety House, Sparky the Fire Dog, SWAT display, and child bike and gift card raffles. DNA LifePrint®, endorsed by John Walsh of America’s Most Wanted, is the nation’s leader in child safety events, providing families with the most important tools they need to safeguard their children. If a child becomes missing, parents greatly increase their chance of quickly recovering their child if they immediately provide law enforcement with the safety materials provided at the event. Elkins Funeral Home recognized the absolute necessity of the crucial investigative tools of DNA LifePrint® and became an area sponsor. With the support of the Florence Police and Fire Department and their volunteers, Elkins Funeral Home was able to provide Florence and its surrounding areas with a free event, aimed at safeguarding the community’s children. Elkins Funeral Home has been serving the community with caring and compassionate service for over 69 years. We continue to strive to provide families with the very finest in personalized service, and to memorialize every life with dignity.
